" Damaged Goods" is a short story by Author Phoenix C. Brown. Whitney is a young woman who, after spending many years in the foster care system, is ready to move on and take control of her own life. When tragedy strikes, Whitney quickly finds her life spiraling downwards and she forced to protect herself and those she loves. Will Whitney be able to persevere or will she forever be" damaged goods"? Damaged Goods was a short but good read. The storyline flowed great and wasn't rushed. The ending was definitely a tear jerker! Looking forward to reading more from this author! 5 stars!

~Black Faithful Sisters and Brothers Book Club~
Damaged Good was the second short story that i have read. I must say that Phoenix drew me in from the first page and didn't let me go until the end. There were so many emotions that i felt while reading this book, the main emotions that i felt was rage and disappointment in the system for placing Whitney in a situation like that . Whitney was a strong character and i felt her pain that she felt but i was proud of the way she went out of her way to make sure Jeremiah and Mary was safe at all times. That is what family is for blood or not blood family is suppose to over and behind the call of duty to protect each other. Keep up the great work Phoenix and you will have a fan for life.....
This was a really good quick fix. Damaged goods was a well written short story with a lot of action and lessons to be learned. Phoenix Brown is a talented author who has a way with words.

Happy Reading,

Damaged goods is one of the best short stories I have ever read. Even though this is supposed to be a work of fiction, I believe the basic story about Whitney is based on a real person. The abuse rings true, and even the love for her foster sister and brother seems true. The ending clearly doesn't ring true. Nevertheless, the author wrote a story that will stay with me for the rest of my life. I highly recommend the story and I intend to read as much of this author's work as I can.
This was indeed an eye opener! A very short but good read. Whitney, through all she had been through, helped her foster sister and brother grow up to not become damaged goods as she had been called. Her, Jeremiah and Mary became a family.
I wonder what happened to Detective Cunningham and Soledad?
This was my first read by the author and I look forward to reading more!
She was called D.G. Damaged Goods. She hated being called that, but her foster mom thought it was funny. She said that's what she was after all so that was the name she gave her. But sometimes a "name" doesn't tell the true story of who you are.

Oh, yeah. She earned the name (at least by some folks' standards). However, those same people should have earned some (not so pleasant) things of their own, but I won't be giving the story away. You'll have to read it for yourself.

Anyway - Whitney, aka D.G., was really someone special, and you would more than likely enjoy reading about her trying to help her foster brother and sister. This was a very heartwarming story about how much one person is willing to endure and or sacrifice to take care of those who can't take care of themselves. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good short story.
